Well, I've decided that I need to share some of the truly incredible and helpful reads that have entered into my life. And, since I've found great inspiration and assistance through reading about and becoming aware of these types of people, I'm hoping to help even one other human by writing about this. So, here goes...............
If you've ever been manipulated by someone you love or respect or thought was a friend, then you MUST read this book. It will free your mind, make you more aware, and help you to not be ma-ni-pu-la-ted again. Er...... at least you'll become aware you were/have been manipulated. And, as time goes by, you'll start to pick up on cues and eventually find yourself in a position where you won't be the target of any more manipulations.
Knowledge protects, right ! !
So, to begin with here is my personal recommendation. It's a small book, a quick read (for those of you who aren't into reading much) and the title is:
"IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING
Understanding and Dealing with Manipulative People"
by: George K. Simon, Jr., Ph.D.
.....and here's a little quote from the back of the book cover:
"Whether it's your mate or child who knows how to push your buttons, the co-worker who quietly undermines your efforts while professing to be helpful, or the boss who preys on your weaknesses, manipulative people have two goals: to win and to look good doing it. Often those they abuse are ignorant of, or only vaguely aware of, what is happening to them."
The book is immensely helpful to us who think that all people are looking out for our best interests (and this includes parents/spouses/friends).
The book helps you to spot weaknesses in your character that can set you up for manipulation.
Enjoy your new adventure into finding out about the true nature of people. Not everything is as it seems. I can say this because of personal experience.
Like it or not, once you start reading about manipulators, agressive personalities, psychopaths, you'll never look at this world with the same pair of innocent eyes. Sorry if this will take away any joy in your life. But 'truth' will keep you ... and your children ... safe.
